Erhan Tolgay: Mr. Moerman Spills the Beans on Innovation and Why He Loves Window Cleaning

Erhan Tolgay isn’t your average window cleaner. He’s a passionate advocate for the Moerman brand, a walking encyclopedia of our latest tools, and a true believer in the joy of a sparkling clean window. We recently caught up with Erhan to chat about his experience at Interclean 2024, his favorite Moerman tools, and why he wouldn’t trade his squeegee for anything.

So, Erhan, you recently attended Interclean 2024 with the Moerman team. What was that experience like?
It was amazing! The whole team – Gianni, Serge, Dieter, Jordi, Barbara, and Jeroen – were incredibly welcoming and professional. They really opened my eyes to a different perspective on window cleaning, especially from the customer’s point of view. It solidified my belief that Moerman is a leader in the industry, constantly innovating to make our jobs not just easier, but better.

Speaking of innovation, we just launced the Spray-Ray. What are your thoughts?
Let me tell you, the Spray-Ray is a gamechanger! Especially for pole work in hot weather or on dirty windows. It’ll save us so much time and energy, and that’s something every window cleaner appreciates. My colleagues are chomping at the bit waiting for it to hit the market!

But it’s not just about the latest and greatest, is it? You seem to appreciate all of Moerman’s tools.
Absolutely! Take the Gekko Pad Holder, for example. With three different pads, it ensures you have the right tool for the job at any time. That kind of attention to detail is what sets Moerman apart. I use all their equipment in my daily routine, and I can honestly say I’m completely satisfied with every single one. Being part of the Moerman team seems like more than just a business relationship for you. How would you describe it?
It’s an honor, truly. It’s more than just a collaboration; it’s a feeling of belonging. After Interclean, my friends started calling me “Mr. Moerman”!  I’m eager to continue this journey with them, wherever they need me.

Alright, Mr. Moerman, let’s get down the tools you use. What are your favorite tools, and what’s your ultimate window cleaning tip?
Picking favorites is tough because I love everything Moerman makes! But if I had to choose, the Excelerator 2.0 Squeegee Handle is a must-have. That swivel function is a dream. The Multiscraper is another favorite, and I have a feeling you’re cooking up some exciting developments for it. And finally, the Swivelmaster T-Bar with Fugu Sleeves – the speed, efficiency, and professional look it offers are unbeatable.

My ultimate tip? Use Moerman tools, of course! But technique and soap usage are important too. Don’t go overboard with the soap – a little Moerman soap in the bucket and on the sleeve is more than enough. Most importantly, take care of your equipment, and they’ll take care of you.

There’s more to window cleaning than just a clean window, isn’t there? What do you love most about your job?
The variety! Every other day or so, I’m at a new location, working on different windows. I also love the challenge of figuring out the best approach for each window. But honestly, the best part is meeting new people and explaining my work. It’s a job that allows me to connect with a global community, even if there’s a language barrier. At the end of the day, a clean window and a satisfied customer speak a universal language!
