We’re a company dedicated to sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. We firmly believe in the power of ESG to shape a brighter, more equitable future for all our stakeholders.

Our Approach to ESG

Our company’s approach to ESG is deeply ingrained in our business practices and decisionmaking processes. We adhere to international frameworks and standards to ensure our commitment remains steadfast and effective.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We align our operations with specific Sustainable Development Goals, each carefully chosen for its relevance to our business. We strive to contribute meaningfully to each of these goals, making a positive impact on our world.

Affordable and clean energy

  • Moerman is committed to using clean, affordable, and renewable energy.
  • In August, solar panels will be installed on the entire surface of the new building and parts of existing buildings.
  • Around 60% of the energy generated will be used in the manufacturing process.
  • Approximately 35% of total energy needs will be provided by natural resources.
  • Most buildings are equipped with LED lights, resulting in significant electricity savings.

Decent work and economic growth

  • Moerman’s business divisions (Floor and Window) pursue sustainable growth of activities.
  • Key drivers for this growth include creating a safe and healthy work environment, continuous investments in improving state-of-the-art production facilities, and product range innovation.
  •  Moerman strives to optimize the use of raw materials and, wherever possible, use recycled materials in new product development.
  •  This commitment to efficient resource usage and recycling also applies to the packaging of products.

Industry, innovation and infrastructure

  • Moerman’s industrial infrastructure has been adapted and modernized for sustainability.
  • Moerman has its own galvanization installation, implementing the best available surface treatment techniques (as per European legislation).
  • These measures have substantially reduced the use of water and the discharge of used water.
  • Moerman operates its own water treatment station, delivering highly purified water to the sewer.
  • In the near future, the infrastructure will be equipped with renewable solar energy.
  • Moerman places a strong emphasis on safety, prevention, and well-being to create a safe and healthy workplace for all workers.

Responsible consumption and production

  • Moerman strives to reduce waste generation.
  • Several initiatives have been undertaken where waste cannot be avoided, particularly with main waste streams.
  • Waste from different rubber qualities is collected and transformed for reuse in building insulation products.
  • Moerman is exploring alternative second-life scenarios for rubber waste in cooperation with the University of Kortrijk (Howest).
  • Metal scrap is collected and processed by a specialized company for environmentally friendly recycling in the metal industry.
  • Carton-based packaging waste is also collected for recycling.
  • Moerman ensures the use of only REACH compliant chemicals and products in its production process.

As we look to the future, our commitment to ESG remains unwavering. We welcome and encourage stakeholder engagement and feedback on our ESG initiatives.
